Four TNT swimmers traveled to Mission Viejo to compete in the 2022 Swim Meet of Champions, which has had a history of attracting international Olympic-level athletes, and had served at one time as the Olympic-Send-Off meet. This year our TNT Senior Team was well represented by four athlete who included Visalia’s Ella Bettencourt, along with Ava Olson, Alexa Wong and Bryan Wong. All four swimmers earned final swims at the meet, and scored in no less than two events.

Performances in finals were led by long-time veteran too the meet, Bryan Wong, who scored in all four of his events, and having the highest finish of 3rd in the 400 IM (4:39.90), and then following it with a 6th place finish in the 200 IM (2:11.69). He also touched 12th in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.88), and 14th in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.58). Ella Bettencourt was our next highest finisher as she touched 6th in the 50 meter backstroke (30.98), and 7th in the 100backstroke (1:06.61) posting lifetime best times in all three events she entered. Next to Bryan, Alexa Wong had the next highest number of finals at three. Her highest finish being 5th place in the 400 IM where her time of5:05.07 was an improvement to her previous team record of 5:08.50 set in La Mirada a couple of months earlier. Alexa swam twice under her re-existing record. She also touched 8th in the 400 free (4:30.57), and 10th in the 200 IM (2:25.09), and, along with Ella, was our only other athlete who improved 100% of her times. Ava Olson was our remaining finalist as she touched 7th in the 400 free (4:30.53), and 14th in the 200 free (2:09.05), and improving times in both of those events.
