Day 3 (Friday) – Time improvements continue in chunks as Sam Hansen was the sole TNT swimmer who swam a qualified event for Friday. Sam qualified for the 400 meter IM with a 5:00.82 at the Porterville meet in June (this past month), and swam a 4:55.32 this morning, improving five and a half seconds. His time is the second fastest time on record with TNT just three seconds off of Jared Hopper’s team record which was set while he swam in the heat with Michael Phelps at the Stanford Grand Prix meet in 2005. Sam’s time now qualifies for the Long Beach Grand Prix. Nathan Rhea time trialed the 200 fly and swam a 2:25.72 making him the second fastest 13-14 200 flyer in the team’s history behind Kohlton Norys. Natha’s previous time was a 2:51.58 (no, that’s not a typo) swam at the May Day Classic in 2008.
