The winning time in the women’s 100 breaststroke at this year’s Swim Meet of Champions was a 1:07.97 by former two-time World Record holder Jessica Hardy. Mallory Korenwinder missed the championship heat by only three places, and swam to a third place finish in the consolation heat with a time of 1:13.45. Mallory had the largest time drop on the team, improving over seven and a half seconds in the 200 fly where her time of 2:29.35 finished 67th in the event.
Owen Ansel was our only swimmer improving 100% of his times, repeating his life-time best time to the hundredth of a second in two of the four events that he competed in. Owen’s highest finish was 54th place in the 100 breaststroke, where his time of 1:09.99 is a new Sectional qualifying time. Other improvements came from Selma swimmer, Emily Goodbar, who improved over a half second in the 50 free to a 29.01, and training partner, Jillian Hatch, who also improved her 50 freestyle by a tenth of a second (27.45). Selma swimmer Noah Haworth improved his 100 freestyle by nearly a third of a second (58.70), while Khloe McCarthy dropped nearly a half second in the 200 IM (2:30.38).
